My Garden

Today I planted my garden. I have tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, peas, green beans, cucumbers, corn, summer squash, and a variety of herbs. As I was working in the dirt, ( I Iove that fresh turned up soil smell BTW) my mind began to wander.......gardening is very similar to raising children. The little seeds are protected and nurtured by ths soil and water until they sprout out of the ground, so delicate and tender. I have to feed them and protect them from pests as they develop into taller stronger seedlings. I have chased wild animal out of my garden in fear that they will eventually destroy my beautiful plants if left together for too long. I fertilize and water them in hope of them becoming stronger and able to start developing into the plants I know they will become. Sometimes, in my garden, a plant can start to wilt and look bad, but I just have to start fertilizing again and hoping that it will injest it all and become that beautiful plant that I know it has potential to become. In the end I will know that I did everything I could to create a beatiful garden, but sometimes it is just out of my hands. Maybe I have been in the sun too long! ;)
